Originally situated at Blantyre (near Boonah, some 63 kilometres southeast of Laidley), the schoolhouse was built in 1876. As a one-teacher school, it catered for up to 58 children ranging in age from five to fourteen. The Good Manners Chart and the cane for corporal punishment are reminders of much stricter childhood days.
